The reason I am writing this blog is because of my experience last weekend at the Cars and Coffee event hosted by Dupont Registry in St. Petersburg. The car show started at 7:00am and ended at 9:00am, but there was also an afterparty at a Mclaren dealership about ten miles from the car show. I arrived to the car show around 8:00am to a crowd of about 500 people who shared the same interests as me. I don't think I have ever felt a better sense of community as I did at this event. Everyone there showed up to either look at nice cars, or to show off their own car. Since I drive a 2012 Honda Civic, obviously I was one of the people looking at other cars.

I noticed at this event that majority of the cars were owned by car enthusiasts like myself, but there were also a few cars there that were brought by local dealerships. Mercedes brought three of there best AMG models to the show and BMW brought a couple as well. It was great to see car enthusiasts like myself get to connect with dealerships and tell them what we thought of their brand. It was a great opportunity for these companies to hear what their consumers thought of their vehicles.

After an hour of walking around the complex, I decided it was time to go to the Mclaren dealership to see what it had to offer. Upon arrival, I saw many of the cars that were at the previous event along with the amazing cars that the dealership had for sale. Everyone had the opportunity to walk around and look at these cars, and some were even allowed to sit in them. Majority of the people at this event were between 20-40 in age, but there was also a large amount of younger kids. I think this was a great promotional event for Mclaren because not only did they connect to potential customers, they also inspired a younger generation who will look up to the brand as they get older.

My experience at this event was only three hours long but I had the opportunity to meet people like myself, and also meet salesmen from the local dealerships. It was a great learning experience for my company going forward, and I think it is something other dealerships should start doing as well.
I agree with you. You aren't going to get a more direct target market than that. Is it expensive to actually feature your vehicle?
ReplyDeleteGreat Question! I believe it is free for individuals to bring their cars, but i'm not sure if Mercedes & BMW had to pay to promote their cars at the event. It is something I will have to do some research on.
