The power of the SUV in today's market

If you were in the market for a luxury SUV about five years ago, you would probably look at a Range Rover, or maybe a Mercedes G-Wagon. In today's automotive market, it seems like every car company has begun producing an SUV for their product line. Porsche sales are actually led by their SUV's, even though they once only sold sports cars. Other exotic car manufacturers like Maserati, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Jaguar are also beginning to produce SUV's. There has been a recent surge in demand for luxury SUV's and these companies would be stupid not to take advantage of the opportunity.

Bentley Bentayga

Rolls Royce's SUV titled "The Cullinan" is the most exciting option to me, and that is because it will be the most luxurious of all the choices. Just like their other cars, the SUV will be the top tier in comfort and elegance. It is estimated to be priced above $300,000 and will challenge the highly popular Bentley Bentayga. It will most likely have a V12 engine, and hold the similar Rolls Royce style we see in their other models. It has yet to be released but it has been seen many times on the road as they are tweaking out any imperfections.

For Jaguar, their new F-Pace SUV is potentially what is going to save the brand. After years of struggling sales numbers, they built this SUV and it has attracted many new customers. They have begun to turn things around and plan on building an electric version as well. As a regular pedestrian, I see a Jaguar SUV basically every day on the roads. It takes many design specs from the F-Type but looks great as a SUV, and their customers have the same views.

In the upcoming years it appears that every car company will have an SUV in their lineup, and some even adding an electric model. The only company that has not confirmed an SUV is Ferrari, and we will have to see if that helps or hurts them as a brand in the future.

  1. I personally think Ferrari does not need a SUV. They are known for their sports cars! Great read!!

    1. I agree with you. Ferrari already has a hatchback model that has many of the same functions as an SUV, and I think they should just stick with that.

  2. Great Post - I really enjoyed reading about how the automotive market is headed toward an SUV heavy line-up. I really agree that the SUV has made a huge comeback. It is easier to make them more fuel efficient since engineering has improved! I think that Rolls Royce Cullinan is going to really challenge the Bentayga. It'll be interesting to see how Rolls Royce approaches the release of their new SUV. Thanks for the read!

  3. That is actually amazing to see such brands compete in industries no one ever thought or imagined they would once even invest in! But yes, I don't think Ferrari should enter this industry as they have already became so successful for what they always positioned themselves for. Thanks for the usual great and intriguing information!

  4. I didn't know that all these luxury brands had their own SUVs. And when I look at the new SUVs, I can definitely see characteristics of the non-SUV models in the SUV brand. They are all very attractive, but probably a little out of my price range. But it's nice to dream!
